Together, the Toronto Rotary Clubs and Habitat for Humanity Toronto built 10 homes in downtown Toronto to provide home ownership to families living in substandard housing thus providing a long term solution designed to break the cycle of poverty.

Rotary Habitat Homes

The Rotary Club of Toronto (and some members of the Toronto Council of Rotary Clubs) partnered with Habitat for Humanity Toronto to blitz-build 10 townhomes on "Rotary Drive" in downtown Toronto.

Funds to complete the project were raised by Club members (Buy-a-Square-Foot Participation Plan) Foundation Grants, corporate gifts and special events.  Construction of the affordable housing was finished in 2005 which coincided with Rotary International's worldwide 100th anniversary celebration.  The build was registered with Rotary International as a "Centennial Community Project".

Member involvement was the focal point in building the homes.  Rotarians completed hands-on work alongside partner families and other volunteers.  The keys were presented to 10 families at a ceremony on Rotary Drive held in September 2005.
