The President's Walk

On Sunday October 6, 2013, there were over 300 walkers from 40 Rotary clubs participating in this year’s Foundation Walk. This year “The Walk” was held in beautiful and historic downtown Newmarket. Our esteemed Past President and now Assistant District Governor Neil Phillips (looking very dapper in his chapeau) and President Richard White led The Rotary Club of Toronto brigade. Maureen Bird was able to scoop us by finding a short cut and finished early but she still had to wait in line for her burger. We were pledged over $2,000 as part of $132,000 which was raised this year, for a grand total of $2,500,000 since “The Walk” began in 1995. Congratulations and thank you to all who contributed.

It all began 18 years ago when it was called “The President’s Walk” to raise money for the Rotary Foundation. The organizers weren't sure that this event could be a successful fundraiser but lo and behold, they raised $110,000 in that first year.
