His academic research centres upon Greek and Roman historiography\, par ticularly Diodorus Siculus and the relationship between historical writing \, literature\, empire\, and cultural memory. He also writes extensively o n Canadian defence policy\, military education\, the Reserve Force\, civil -military relations\, and national resilience\, with work appearing throug h the NATO Association of Canada\, Canadian Naval Review\, and the CDA Ins titute. As the University’s Director of Defence and Industrial Strategy\ , he leads efforts to connect Guelph’s research strengths with Canadian priorities in defence\, security\, resilience\, and industry.
