International Service
Involvement in many overseas projects over the years, one of the more significant, perhaps, was the sponsorship in 1980 of 3-H project on the island of St. Vincent with Rotary International, C.I.D.A. and Humber college, that provided equipment and training in plumbing, air conditioning, electrical and outboard motor repair. The program was completed and was moved to the island of Santa Dominica in 1982 and subsequently to other islands. The International Services committee of The Rotary Club of Toronto continues to be a significant component of our philanthropic activity. So many projects have been undertaken that they would be too numerous to list here. They include Clearing of Landmines in Mozambique; the Gift of Life Program; hands-on projects in Burkina Faso; drinking water project in Madras, India; work with Street Kids International on project Main Stream helping street kids in Mumbai, India as well as in South America; AIDS Relief in Malawi; and of course, the World Emergency Disaster Relief for the Tsunami; Pakistan Erthquake and Hurricane Katrina.
