Making a donation to The Rotary Club of Toronto (Phil Fund) and our Rotary Club of Toronto Charitable Foundation
Our Foundation
Both the Rotary Club of Toronto Phil Fund and the Rotary Club of Toronto Charitable Foundation are Registered Canadian Charities and therefore under the CRA Income Tax Act are eligible to issue charitable receipts for all donations made.
Donations may be made to either The Rotary Club of Toronto (Phil Fund) or to the Rotary Club of Toronto Charitable Foundation however, you are asked to indicate which of these two entities you wish to contribute to, when making your gift donation. Information on both is set out above.
In Memoriam & Tribute Gifts
In memoriam or tribute gifts are a meaningful way to make a donation in memory of a loved one or to honour family, friends or colleagues. These tribute gifts may be made to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries, holidays or a special note of thanks for a helpful act.
Your gift will be acknowledged immediately to the family of the deceased or to the person or group to whom you wish to pay tribute. It will advise them that a thoughtful gift was made in memory of their loved one or in their name. We will include the mailing address to enable them to send their own personal acknowledgement.
You will receive a charitable tax receipt for gifts of $25 or more.
Bequests to the Foundation
The Foundation welcomes gifts at any time from club members and from non-Rotarians. A substantial portion of the Foundation assets come from bequests from Rotarians, spouses and families of Rotarians.
Join the Planned Giving Program at the Rotary Club of Toronto by naming the Foundation in your Will. The following wording is suggested:
"I hereby give and bequeath the sum of $ _____ to the Rotary Club of Toronto Charitable Foundation to be used as the Directors of said Foundation may from time to time determine."
Suggestions for Giving:
To ensure the continuing success of the Foundation, it is suggested the Club members:
- Make year-end tax deductible donation to the Foundation
- Create your own Donor Directed funds with a opening contribution of $25,000
- Gift of publicly traded securities: stocks, bonds, mutual funds.
- Name the Foundation in your Will or use other methods of deferred giving (further information and forms available in the office).
