What an absolutely magical evening it was at Kelly's Landing on June 10th! The warmth and joy that filled the room was palpable as our Rotary family gathered to celebrate the remarkable leadership of President Binoy and bid him a heartfelt farewell.

The gathering was nothing short of spectacular, bringing together an incredible constellation of Rotary leaders who came to honour our beloved President. District Governor Virginia O'Reilly graced us with her presence, alongside a distinguished group of Past Presidents – Jayson Phelps, Prince Kumar, John Fortney, Kevin Power, and Susan Hunter – each carrying years of wisdom and dedication. President-Elect Dauna Jones-Simmonds and Vice-President Pauline Lyons added to the evening's significance, while our gracious host, Vice-President Elect Sergio Amatller, ensured every detail was perfect.

In a truly touching display of family love and commitment, Rotarian Brinda Luckoo, our President's wife, joined the celebration alongside her parents. What makes their presence even more extraordinary is their incredible dedication to our Rotary family – these wonderful in-laws traveled all the way from the UK not once, but twice! First for President Binoy's inspiring Throne speech last year, and again this year for our Changeover meeting. Their unwavering support speaks volumes about the bonds that Rotary creates, extending far beyond our club to embrace entire families.

The evening buzzed with energy as long-standing Rotarians mingled with our newer members, creating that beautiful tapestry of experience and fresh enthusiasm that makes our club so special. President-Elect's husband and other cherished guests added to the vibrant atmosphere, making it a true celebration of community.

Laughter echoed throughout Kelly's Landing as we savoured exceptional food and drinks, but it was the heartfelt speeches that truly made the evening unforgettable.

One by one, our District Governor, all five Past Presidents, President-Elect, Vice-President, Vice-President Elect, and Executive Director Carol took the floor. Each speaker's words painted the same beautiful picture – President Binoy's unwavering dedication to our motto "Service Above Self." The consistency of their praise was both moving and well-deserved.

One touching moment came when Brinda spoke of her husband’s devotion to the club. Her words reminded us all that behind every great Rotarian leader is a family that shares in the commitment to service.

President Binoy's gracious response captured the essence of who he is – humble, appreciative, and forward-looking. His heartfelt thanks to Vice-President Elect Sergio Amatller for choosing one of his favorite restaurants showed his attention to meaningful details, while his gratitude to all attendees reflected his genuine appreciation for the support he's received throughout his presidential year.

As President Binoy looks ahead to joining the Past President's Club and embarking on his new role as Assistant District Governor for District 7070, we celebrate not just the end of his presidential term, but the beginning of his continued journey in Rotary leadership. His legacy of service, dedication, and genuine care for others will undoubtedly inspire us all as we move forward together.

Here's to President Binoy – a leader who truly embodies the spirit of Rotary, and to an evening that reminded us why we're so proud to be part of this incredible organization!

The Bird House
A Testament to Service and Dedication

In the heart of Camp Scugog, where memories are woven through acts of service and fellowship, something truly beautiful has taken root—not just in the earth, but in the spirit of our Rotary family.

What began as a simple patch of grass during our May 23rd to 25th Members' Retreat has blossomed into something far more meaningful.

Under the skilled guidance of Past President Jayson Phelps and Errol Paullicpulle, our carpentry team embarked on creating what would become a greenhouse - a sanctuary where life would flourish and grow.

But nature had other plans that weekend. Rain clouds gathered, and time slipped away before the vision could be fully realized. Yet, in true Rotary spirit, this was not the end of the story - it was merely the pause before the most beautiful chapter.

On Saturday, June 14th, a remarkable group of souls returned to Camp Scugog with purpose burning in their hearts. Past President Jayson, Errol, Vedant, Serge with his son Adam, and Carol, our dedicated Scugog Director, came together not just to complete a building, but to honour a legacy.

The carpentry team had agreed to dedicate the greenhouse to one amazing Rotarian, Maureen Bird. So, as the team worked with their hands, something profound emerged from their collective efforts - this greenhouse would become more than a structure. It would become "The Bird House," a living tribute to one of our most cherished members, Maureen Bird.

Maureen embodies everything we aspire to be in Rotary. Year after year, through sunshine and storms, she has arrived at Camp Scugog with her carpentry tools in hand and determination in her heart. Whether scaling cabin roofs or tackling the most challenging projects, Maureen has shown us that true service knows no bounds, no comfort zones, and certainly no fear of heights.

In naming this greenhouse "The Bird House," we celebrate not just Maureen's unwavering dedication to The Rotary Club of Toronto, but the beautiful truth that like the plants that will grow within its walls, our service flourishes when we tend to it with love, consistency, and an unshakeable commitment to showing up - rain or shine.

To Past President Jayson, Errol, Vedant, Serge, Adam, and Carol, and the carpentry team, your dedication to seeing this vision through speaks to the very heart of what makes our Rotary family extraordinary. You have created something that will nurture growth for years to come, while honouring a member whose own growth in service continues to inspire us all.

The Bird House stands not just as a greenhouse, but as a testament to the seeds of kindness we plant through service, the patience required to see them grow, and the beautiful harvest that comes when we work together with purpose and love.
