In 2007, Cosecha founder Jason Axmith began exploring the Spanish countryside meeting artisanal winemakers who had recovered the low-intervention, traditional winemaking practices of their grandparents’ generation.
These men and women had restored ancient vineyards and rediscovered traditional grape varieties, creating intricate wines with a sustainable and organic approach. The wines were produced in small batches, featuring gorgeous acidity, well-integrated alcohol levels and ethereal, nuanced flavours.
Revisiting year after year, Jason developed close relationships with these grape growers and winemakers, forming family-like ties with them. They wanted to know how to bring their wines directly to the Canadian market, which led to the birth of Cosecha Imports in 2015. "Cosecha" is the Spanish word for harvest.
Bringing our wines home, you are drinking ethically-produced, organic wine made with the very best of sustainable farming, minimal intervention and low use of sulphites. None of the wines are available through the LCBO.
We work with over 25 producers around Europe, proudly bringing the best wines of Spain and beyond to the Canadian market while providing meaningful work for traditional farmers.

A Time for Us to Get Together
In his throne speech, President Jayson called on us all to connect and reconnect with each other after these years or isolation. One of the ways we can do this is by meeting together, and one such opportunity is coming up in just a few weeks. On September 15, our club and the Indigenous Spirit Fund will be co-hosting a fundraiser that will benefit both The Rotary Club of Toronto Philanthropic Fund and the Indigenous Spirit Fund.

Chief Stacey Laforme, chief of the Mississaugas of the Credit, will open the evening which will include Indigenous performers, Indigenous-themed hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and live and silent auctions. It will be a fun-filled night where we’ll renew and celebrate old friendships and make new ones.
This is our club’s major fundraising event this year and we need your help.
First of all, please buy a ticket. Tickets are $100, a portion of which will receive a charitable receipt, and are available at
Second, please think about whether you have an item to add to our auction. One of our members is donating a boat cruise of Toronto harbour, followed by dinner. Two of our camp chefs are catering a dinner for eight. Can you offer an item or an experience that others would enjoy? Please contact John Fortney.

We were able to negotiate an amazing room rental rate of $175 per night. Unfortunately, the special rate expires on the 15th of August, then the rate will rise to approximately $320 a night.

I would like to invite you to register early to the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne next year as there are great savings by doing so before June 12, 2022 (midnight). The registration fee is increasing gradually to $675 USD after April 1, 2023. The earlier you register the better!
As President Elect for 2022-23, I will have the honour to host a fabulous party for all Rotary Club of Toronto members attending the Convention. I know it's a little far for a party but if Australia is on your bucket list, this is an amazing excuse to get planning. Attending a RI Convention is where one realises the reach and impact that we have worldwide. You will be inspired, I promise you.
