Our Club’s Scholarship program is ten years old.
Pauline Lyons has been the chair of the scholarship awards program since 2019.
It has been very rewarding for her to be a part of the tremendous success which
the students past and present have achieved.
Today, we welcome Veronica Luo to this exceptional group of students. Our
club’s commitment to this yearly Scholarship will ensure that more deserving
students get the opportunity to attend college or university.
2022 Scholarship Winner Veronica Luo
Veronica Luo is the recipient of the 2022 Rotary Club of Toronto scholarship. She graduated from a specialized Mathematics, Science and Technology program known as MaST at Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute with an honors certificate and Ontario Scholar Award for achieving a 90% average.
Her academic, personal, and volunteer experiences have driven her passion for pursuing a combined program in psychology and education at the University of Toronto where she hopes to fulfill her goal of becoming a clinical psychologist providing support to youth, who have loved ones diagnosed with mental illnesses.
2021 Winner Rachel Ma
Rachel Ma is the recipient of the 2021 Rotary Club of Toronto Scholarship.
She has completed her first year at the University of Toronto. Her aspirations have changed since 2021 from a future career in LAW. She now feels that a better fit for her would be working with underrepresented persons: specifically, children, immigrants, and those who have suffered workplace injuries.
Her motto: If you can believe it, you can achieve it!
2021 Winner Gabrielle Cuff
Gabrielle Cuff is the recipient of the 2021 Rotary Club of Toronto Scholarship. She is embarking on her third year of studies at the University of Toronto. She plans to pursue a career in LAW.
Her first two years were a rollercoaster of online classes and uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she rallied and got through it. She has been recognized as a Dean’s List Scholar in the Faculty of Arts and Science for the second year in a row. She is looking forward to in-person learning this Fall which she believes will enhance her overall university experience.
2019 Winner Hshmat Sahak
Hshmat Sahak is the recipient of the 2019 Rotary Club of Toronto Scholarship.
He has completed 3 years of his undergraduate degree at U of T, Majoring in Machine Learning in the highly competitive Engineering Science program. He has consistently maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.99 and a 95% overall average.
He plans to obtain a PhD degree in Computer Science and work in academia, advancing state of the art in image processing and natural language models.

Join fellow Rotarians and Indigenous guests at our fundraiser Miinawaa-Eyiizh / And-Both on Sept. 15, 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Celebrate our coming together as a community after our years of isolation! This is our club’s only fundraiser in 2022 and we rely on your support.
You’ll experience Indigenous performances, enjoy Indigenous-themed hors d’oeuvres, bid for a range of items at our silent auction and - best of all – enable Indigenous youth to reconnect to the land and the traditions of their people at the Keeping the Circle Strong Camps, run by our partner for this event, the Indigenous Spirit Fund.
Proceeds from the evening will be split between our Philanthropic Fund, which funds our committees’ philanthropic work, and the Indigenous Spirit Fund.

Join us for very exciting program which is going to be hosted at Centennial College -
937 Progress Ave (right off the 401)!
We have Dr. Craig Stephenson, President of Centennial College as our keynote speaker.
The menu will be a sustainable theme and the students will be cooking and serving for us.
In addition, we’ve got Craig Applegath (Founding Architect with Dialog) joining us again to give us a tour of Centennial’s
sustainable mass timber building at the end of lunch. And Safety boots are required for the tour but not lunch.
