She ran an environmental law boutique for 25 years, and was the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario 2015 – 2019, reporting to the Legislature on environment, energy and climate. Now heads SaxeFacts, focussing on the climate crisis. Substantial board and media experience. Hosts Green Economy Heroes podcast. Senior Fellow, Massey College. Law Society Medal 2020 for exemplary leadership in environmental law. Clean50 honouree. Deputy leader of the Ontario Green Party and Green Party candidate in University-Rosedale. Friday April 22 is Earth Day
In conjunction with Earth Day, we will be participating in the Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup.
A group from our club will be attending at an Earth Day Cleanup along the Don River with Don't Mess with the Don. It is scheduled for Saturday April 23, from 10 am to noon at the south parking lot of ET Seton Park. Further info in the brochure.
President's Cocktail, April 13 - New Members Welcome
We celebrated at the National Club's 2nd floor bar with slides of all new members, a photo booth (watch for clips later), table cards and special comments from New Members.
Natali Saad is back from Saudi Arabia, still dealing with family in Ukraine and comes with a wealth of experience as "Carol" to four clubs in Dubai.
Jake Tran watched what our club has done over the years assisting the Salvation Army programs in Toronto and decided it was time to get involved.
Takuya Sasayama enjoyed joining a Rotary Club when stationed in Ottawa and is delighted to join us here.

Making a direct impact with Ukraine Aid – We have amassed over $140,000 for ShelterBox
ShelterBox is looking at providing both shelter within Ukraine for people who have been displaced and aid packages with essentials like blankets, solar lights, sleeping mats and so on, for refugees who make it out of the country. Our Rotary Charitable Foundation and our Club's President under joint authority approved $15,000 plus matching towards this aid via ShelterBox. Significant donations were received from the Andras Foundation as well as patrons and staff of DMP Flowers & Gifts.

Cost: $51.98/person($46+Tax) not including food and drinks ordered (BATL serves drinks and we are ordering takeout from Cherry Street BBQ around the corner).
Registration and payment by e-transfer must be completed by April 15 to attend.
As with our luncheons we require a two-dose certificate on file with Carol in order to attend. Furthermore, the venue requires agreement with their Code of Conduct which includes a requirement for closed-toe shoes and conducting yourself in a safe and controlled fashion.
The upcoming District Conference is from May 13 to 15 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Oshawa. Our Club will be hosting a hospitality suite at the conference. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet Rotarians from our 54 clubs and exchange experiences. The organizers have created a fabulous program for expanding our knowledge and also entertainment.
All you have to do is go to Linktr.ee/RotaryToronto and you will be connected to our club’s landing page. You can buy a ticket in $5, $10 or $20 increments. The winners are posted weekly on the website and depending on your tickets and the card you choose you may win the weekly draw prize or even the jackpot.
Our club receives $0.85 for every $5 purchase, $2.95 for every $10 purchase and $7.15 for every $20 purchase.
With Covid still affecting us this is one way to help our club.
