Matt Aydin is a Princeton IV quarterfinalist, Canadian national debate championships quarterfinalist, and the current Canadian Australs champion. As a debate judge he has also found success, having been rated as one of best judges in the world at the most recent World championships. He has been invited to judge at many of the world's most competitive and prestigious debate tournaments such as the Yale IV, Oxford IV, Cambridge IV, and the Asia and Australian international debate championships. He is currently finishing an undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto studying Political Science, Economics, Math, and Contemporary Asian Studies. His number one supporter is his kitten named Piper, and she is very cute.
Ashley Costa
Ashley Costa is a student at the University of Toronto. She is currently a debater for the Hart House (U of T) team and was a Thursday meeting coordinator for the 2020-2021 year as well as representing Hart House at WUDC 2021 (World University Debating Championship), as a judge this summer. She has 6 years of competitive debating and public speaking experience. In high school, she headed the De La Salle debate society and have continued on to represent the University of Toronto as a debater and judge at many regional, national and international tournaments. She has also taught debating to various levels of students through her work as a debating coach. She is also a founding member of the Open Debate Initiative which has partnered with TCDSB and TDSB classrooms over the last year as well as the largest TDSB debating team to offer debating presentations.

Georgia Samuel
Georgia Samuel a third-year student at the University of Toronto majoring in Urban Studies and minoring in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Bioethics. In her spare time, she is a member of the Hart House Debate Club, Intramural ice hockey and coach debate and public speaking at a local high school.
Jessica Singh
Jessica Singh is a 3rd year student at UofT pursuing an HBSc Specialist in Neuroscience with double minors in Biology and Education. Outside of school, you’ll find her reading, debating, or working with Neurotech. The rest of her time is usually filled at the kickboxing dojo. At Progress Place we believe that recovery from mental illness is possible when it involves the individual in a community – one that offers hope, respect, and opportunities for personal development.
Progress Place is a recovery centre for people living with mental illness such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Depression and Anxiety. Combining a comprehensive network of services that includes employment, education, recreation and housing, our innovative approach to psychosocial rehabilitation is progressive and world-renowned. Mental illness need not be an obstacle to fulfilling one’s dreams. We are committed to helping people stay out of hospitals, achieve their personal goals and contribute to the communities they live in.
Past meetings
On November 5th we honoured our Rotarian and family members who answered the call in the fight for peace. We were pleased to have trumpeter Paul Taylor back for Last Post and Reveille.
Past President John Fortney was given the privilege of hosting his first in person meeting after a full year of presiding over virtual only meetings. His smile said it all.
Guest speaker was Barbara Dickson speaking about Canada's Bomb Girls and she brought some of the armaments they made during the war, including an exploded one from the Netherlands.
Errol Paulicpulli was our How We Hobby speaker, talking about his new love of Ballroom Dancing.

Our newest Club Builder - Anny-Sandra Hamel
During our Club Assembly on November 9th, President Prince had the honour of presenting our Club Builder Award to Vice-President Anny-Sandra Hamel.
Since joining the club in 2014 she has not refused any challenge. She chaired the Seniors Committee for two years and supervised the Seniors Christmas party. She has been the ultimate volunteer with her daughters Arianne and Marissa. They have twice hosted exchange students.
She joined the Transitions Team in 2018 and remains a transformational force. She was appointed to the Board in 2019 and has served on the Foundation Board and Executive Committee.
