Another fantastic weekend at Camp Scugog wrapped up! We had over 40 Rotarians participate in the cleanup and renovation of the campsite. Throughout the day and into the evening, there was a lively hum of conversations, with songs being sung, card games being played, and s'mores enjoyed by the fire. It was an exceptional weekend filled with productive work and fellowship. See you all next year!

National Indigenous Peoples Day Dinner June 5, 2024
Organized by Bill Empey with assistance by event hosts Chris Snyder and Steven Smith, the Club's indigenous dinner was a great success. The club was honored to have key-note guest speaker Kahontakwas Diane Longboat. Diane eloquently delivered and enlightening talk about indigenous cultural history, sovereignty and about renewing peaceful relations with indigenous nations. Diane, a professional educator with a Master’s degree in education, is a member of the Turtle Clan and Mohawk Nation at Six Nations Grand River Territory, Canada. She is a ceremonial leader, traditional teacher, and healer. She has served as Elder for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health since January of 2013 and is founder of Soul of the Mother, a Healing Lodge on the shores of the Grand River at Six Nations Grand River Territory, with extensive relationships with First Nations in Canada and the United States. Diane is also founder of First Nations House (Office of Aboriginal Student Services and Programs) at the University of Toronto.
