Our Newest Honourary Member
Olivia Chow is the 66th Mayor of Toronto, the first person of Asian descent to serve as Mayor, and the first woman since the six municipalities of Metro Toronto were amalgamated into one in 1998.

At our Women's Luncheon on March 6 we were delighted to host Mayor Olivia Chow and welcome her as an honourary member of our club. It has been a tradition in the past to include our mayor and we are pleased to be back to this.

Many years ago her late husband Jack Layton had been an active member of this great club.
Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine - Paul Harris Award
We were honoured to present Dauna's special friend Honourable Dr. Jean Augustine with a Paul Harris Fellow award for her outstanding work in government, in service throughout the country and in the black community with youth.

We were proud to sponsor her tribute movie "STEADFAST" at a special club showing on February 24th.

Sewing Menstrual Kits
We had great fun on the 16th at Manor Road United Church hosted by John Joseph Mastandrea.

Organized by Anny-Sandra Hamel and Maureen Bird (lunch credit to Altaf Mamujee), 10 of us worked from 9:00 to 12:30 sewing washable menstrual pads for girls in rural Dominican Republic. This is a project led by Janet Thorsteinson of the Whitby Sunrise club who arrived with 6 machines and stacks of fabric.

We will be planning another event!
