Special Guest Marnie Walker
Marnie Walker is the next of kin and Trustee for the Estate of Marie McGee who has bequeathed a large contribution to the Rotary Club of Toronto Charitable Foundation in support of the End Polio Now Campaign.
She is an entrepreneur and lives in Canada and Panama. She will join us on Friday, March 18th from Panama now and regrets that she is unable to attend in person.
Marie and Marnie also had a special bond as well as they both shared a mobility issue and walked with difficulty. Marnie’s problem did not come from polio but from a bone disease she developed when she was 17. With Marie as a role model, she refused to use a wheelchair and insisted on walking. And like Marie, she never viewed herself as handicapped, so others did not as well.

We were fortunate to be addressed directly by Kyrylo who is working on the ground to assist the people of his country.
We were one of the clubs who sponsored His club 30 years ago, the first club since before the war. John Hewko, General Secretary of Rotary International is a club Member.
Kyrylo has also met with some of the ShelterBox staff on the ground.
Making a direct impact with Ukraine Aid – You can join in the $30,000 Matching grant!
ShelterBox is looking at providing both shelter within Ukraine for people who have been displaced and aid packages with essentials like blankets, solar lights, sleeping mats and so on, for refugees who make it out of the country. Our Club's President and Our Charitable Foundation's President under joint authority have approved $15,000 towards this aid via ShelterBox.
You can help – The matching campaign is now up to $30,000. Special thanks to the Andras Foundation for doubling the commitment. If you choose to help, your donations will be matched $ for $ up to $30,000.

She has been chair of International, Fellowship & Entertainment, Program and Community Service. She has also served as a member of the Centennial Committee, Strategic Planning, Voice Committee, Branding and Communications.
She received her Club Builder in 2012 and was on the Board 2013-16. She has volunteered at Argo 50-50 sales and Camp Scugog and has been very active with Robin Hood Army Canada.
It is a very well-deserved honour!

Release Trauma:
Transitional Issues Faced by Former Military Veterans
Our Club began this initiative in 2019. We held a Forum with many community representatives on Nov. 26, 2019 to understand and prioritize the needs of Veterans. This focus was interrupted by the Pandemic! On Feb. 25, 2022 we invited Chris Munro, to speak about his personal experience as a Veteran to re-enter into civilian life. He will continue to be our consultant as we move forward to achieve our goals.

This Week: Daniel Massicotte
Daniel joined the club in February 2019 but has made up for the short duration with stellar contributions. Daniel’s interest in Rotary was first sparked when he discovered that his grandfather, Danny Faour from the Rotary Club of Corner Brook, Newfoundland had been a member for over 50
years.
He has been a member of Community Service and the Environment Committee and is involved with our new working groups. He is currently Co-Chair of Community Outreach.
As a member of the Rapid Response Subcommittee in summer 2020 he worked to provide and deliver masks and food to 12 shelters.
New Member - Adrian Reyes
Adrian Reyes, was born in Belize and for
the last 10 years, has practiced law in Toronto, and litigated in Canada and managed litigation operations in London and European markets, the U.S., Africa, Australasia and Latin America.
Adrian is the former Director of Legal for Doctors for Doctors, and currently sits onthe Board of the Stella Rosa F.C. a Sport’sCharity.
His Father is a Former President of the Y.M.C.A. and of the Rotary Club 7193. He has been engaged in multiple ways; children’s rights, migrant rights to educational access, and as an
administrator for the Stop Hunger Foundation.
Adrian wishes to join The Rotary Club of Toronto to continue his and his family’s focus on providing service above self to their communities in meaningful ways.”
St. Patrick’s Parade – Sunday March 20, 12 noon
Save the date! After a two year absence, the St. Patrick’s Parade is scheduled to return to Toronto on Sunday, March 20 at 12 noon. And The Rotary Club of Toronto has been entered as a community entry to march in the parade! Bring out your green and join fellow Rotarians, friends and family in being part of the parade. The parade begins on Bloor near St. George to Yonge, down Yonge to Queen and ends at Nathan Phillips Square. Following the parade arrangements are being made for the group to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at a restaurant nearby. Further details to follow. Catch The Ace - our Latest Fundraiser!
Our club is participating in a New Rotary Raffle that is being sponsored by a number of Rotary clubs in Ontario. The raffle is called Catch the Ace, similar to our Ace of Clubs draw that we used to hold at our live meetings ….. this one is played online. All you have to do is go to Linktr.ee/RotaryToronto and you will be connected to our club’s landing page. You can buy a ticket in $5, $10 or $20 increments. The winners are posted weekly on the website and depending on your tickets and the card you choose you may win the weekly draw prize or even the jackpot…. Our club receives $0.85 for every $5 purchase, $2.95 for every $10 purchase and $7.15 for every $20 purchase.
