Deborah Cook practices critical care medicine at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. At McMaster University, she is a Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics, and Academic Chair of Critical Care. Her multi-method multi-disciplinary research interests include life support technology, prevention of ICU-acquired complications, end-of-life care, and research ethics. As a Canada Research Chair in Knowledge Translation in Critical Care, and former Chair of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group,
Dr. Cook has published over 700 peer-review articles and supervised many young trainees and successful faculty. She has received numerous regional, national and international awards for her practice, teaching, mentoring and research. In 2016, Dr. Cook became an Officer of the Order of Canada for her global contributions to improving the care of critically ill patients. Dr. Cook is also the winner of the prestigious 2022 Canada Gairdner Wightman Award for her groundbreaking research in the treatment of patients in the intensive care unit.

David Howard is the CEO and Co-Founder of the Homes For Heroes Foundation, a Veterans housing initiative; Director for Canadian Legacy Project charity, a Veterans transition charity; CEO of The Event Group, Canada’s leading live event production company; and CEO of ToMarket, an affordable housing developer.
Dave is coming all the way from Calgary to speak to us, so do please make an effort to come out and hear him. You will not be disappointed.

Sandra Perron is the founder and CEO of The Pepper Pod, a retreat center for women veterans. She is the bestselling author of "Out Standing in the Field" a memoir (soon-to-be movie) about her career in the Canadian military and her experience as Canada’s first female infantry officer. Sandra served in the Royal 22e Régiment, the famous “Vandoos.” She deployed for two United Nations peacekeeping tours in Bosnia and Croatia as an anti-tank platoon commander during the war in former Yugoslavia. She left the military in 2003.
Sefer Can Ozalp born 1993, was raised in Turkey. He is currently working as a Project Manager in tech and is experienced in digital marketing, business development,
and construction.
He studied economics in Turkey and during his bachelor's education worked at his family company. In 2018, he moved to Canada for a master's degree and completed Project Mgmt. at Lambton College in Toronto.
Sefer was a member of the Rotaract Club of Toronto and he builds and develops E-commerce brands.
He enjoys biking, basketball, and playing the
drums. He is looking forward to being a part
of The Rotary Club of Toronto family.
Gael Gilbert was born in Dublin, Ireland and spent her childhood in Ontario, Manitoba and Quebec.
She has 4 children, 3 grandchildren and was foster parent to 47 mostly teens, over a period of 25 years.
She studied film and TV, mainly in Montreal and in 1974 she worked for the City of Toronto in the Planning
Department. She has been an Executive Director of various organizations including Agincourt Community Services and most recently Sistering.
She is an active member of Holy Blossom Synagogue, loves hiking, kayaking, skydiving, reading, films and things paranormal.
