Jennifer is a Value Creation Services partner specializing in the retail and consumer industry.  Her mandate is to leverage her Retail and Consumer expertise in Omnichannel to help clients make sense of the vast quantities of data which exists in their organizations utilizing a insight-data driven approach via artificial intelligence and cognitive machine learning techniques.  She focuses on assisting clients in developing insight-driven strategies to deal with an increasingly connected consumer and complex business issues.  These strategies include – developing data monetization strategies, transitioning from a multi-channel organization to “insight driven” organizations by building and operationalizing eCommerce platforms, mobile capabilities and the re-designing the retail network.  She also assists clients in embedding Advanced Analytics into her clients’ business to deliver a one-brand (“Omnichannel”) experience. Jennifer leads a multi-faceted and cross-functional team ranging from strategists to and advanced analytics teams including market researchers and data scientists.

 

She is the LBP for FA for Weston Group of Companies and is the LCSP for the largest wine brand in Canada. Her clients include Canada Goose, Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, HBC, Lord & Taylor, Golf Town, AGLC, OLG, BCLDB, LCBO, to name a few.

This fourth virtual Rotary Club of Toronto started with a Prelude by our own Glenn Davis
and Brigitte Bogar. President Kevin introduced the virtual head table and welcomed visiting
Rotarians and guests. Lorna Johnson, Liaison Director for the Fellowship and
Entertainment Committee summarized the current and upcoming virtual F&E events
and noted that details for all events and who to contact can be found via Club Runner
emails, our e-Bulletin (Voice) and in the Club Google Calendar. President Kevin further
encouraged all members and new members, in particular, to try out at least one virtual
event.
Sylvia Geist, Rotarian since 2014, gave us her Let’s be Personal chat. This will follow.

President Kevin described the COVID-19 projects we have funded to date, listed last week.

Esteemed Past President, Michele Guy, introduced our Speaker for the day, Sandy
Boucher, Partner and Senior Investigator, Forensic and Dispute Resolution
Services with Grant Thornton LLC. Sandy’s talk on how to protect ourselves as we all
transition to our lives online opened our eyes up to the various ways “the bad guys” try
to makes us click on links so they can access our computers and data, how those
emails that tell us we must pay outstanding invoices are most likely from fraudsters, and
why we should always install all updates, especially security updates and patches on
our phones, ipads, laptops and other devices. We learned the term WFH (Work From
Home) and why we should step away from our devices and think for a moment before
you click on a link. Sandy’s presentation is available for all members and he is happy to

check Sandy is OK with this email address to be in the Voice. President Kevin thanked
Sandy and in recognition a donation has been made to the Sunshine Centre for
Seniors.

While we are having these virtual meetings, we are having a weekly prize based on
“guessing Kevin’s number from 1-500.” Last week’s winner was June Brown.

This week our Club Phil COVID-19 Committee has approved 3 grant requests

which were submitted by our Youth and Children’s Committee as follows:

 

#1: for Horizons For Youth - $10,000 to help cover the cost for compliance equipment and frontline worker salaries.

 

#2: for Sketch Working Arts – $10,000 for tech equipment and art materials and

hygiene supplies.

 

And  #3: YES, Youth Employment Services - $10,000 for the YES youth tech program for cloud services certification.

 

 

Week five: The bakers made three of the four savoury tart recipes, mushroom, asparagus or tomato. The puff pastry was not found by all, which is the easiest way to pastry sheets. One person came home with filo sheets instead. Not quite so easy to work with. Those who picked up the square boxes of pastry struggled with rolling them out. A wine bottle has many uses. Lorna added shrimp to her asparagus tart, bottom right. But all were enjoyed and considered ‘guestable’, which is our new word and hopefully guests can happen soon.

 

Online grocery shopping is an adventure.  Lori got one mushroom and one Brussels sprout. Perfect for her diet! Marci got five bunches of bananas and is seeking recipes.  Jay

Phelps struggles with chopping onions and got several suggestions – swim goggles, freezing it for 15 minutes or simply stand well back as you chop.
